wunderloop leads Europe in advertising privacy
wunderloop becomes the second company to gain EuroPriSe certification
LUXEMBOURG, 19 November, 2008 – wunderloop (www.wunderloop.com), Europe’s leader in behavioral targeting, has announced that it has become only the second European company, and the first in Germany, to be awarded the European Privacy Seal - ‘EuroPriSe’. The award was given in recognition of wunderloop’s ongoing commitment to privacy protection and data security and was presented at the Online Marketing tradeshow in Düsseldorf.
EuroPriSe is the first standardized pan-European certification of IT products and IT-based services founded on European privacy protection laws. The EuroPriSe project, a consortium of nine partners from eight European countries led by the Independent Center for Data Security of the Federal German State of Schleswig-Holstein (ULD), is backed by the European Commission.
The EuroPriSe certification was awarded following an intensive, two-step evaluation where the auditors concluded that wunderloop’s Integrated Targeting Platform is exemplary in its protection of privacy and data. wunderloop’s approach to behavioral targeting differs from others, as it collects information about Internet users’ surfing habits but uses no data that could be traced to real people. It also does not store IP addresses that have been used to access content. Instead, wunderloop uses proprietary analysis processes to determine user demographics, such as gender and age group, as well as users’ current interests.
Kirsten Bock, manager of the EuroPriSe project, commented: “EuroPriSe aims to show consumers which companies play by the rules of privacy protection, in a reliable, transparent and trustworthy way.”
“The EuroPriSe certification means a great deal to us,” said wunderloop CEO Torsten Ahlers. “It confirms our enduring commitment to privacy protection and, by extension, consumer protection.”
